The limit does not exist for Chris Hemsworth. The Marvel star will return for a second season of his inspirational series “Limitless,” National Geographic announced Thursday during the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

“Millions of viewers around the world were inspired and wowed by the combination of science, endeavor and the incredibly committed Chris Hemsworth in the first season,” said Tom McDonald, the executive vice president of global factual and unscripted content for National Geographic. “This new season will have the scale, the drama and the challenges you’d expect from ‘Limitless,’ but we’ve also got some big and exciting surprises in store for the audience and for Chris himself.”

“Working on ‘Limitless’ was an eye-opening experience that allowed me to reflect on my strengths, vulnerabilities and all the ways in which we as humans can plan toward longevity,” added Hemsworth. “For this next season, we are attempting to raise the bar and go even deeper in this exploration alongside health and wellness experts from around the globe.”

The docuseries’ first season, which premiered in late 2022 and is streaming on Disney+, saw Hemsworth investigate how to live better and for longer by using cold therapy, managing stress and testing his mind and memory. At times, he was joined in his endeavors by his brothers, fellow actors Luke and Liam, and wife, actress Elsa Pataky. The six-episode season culminated in a humorous but heartfelt episode about acceptance and aging.

“Limitless’” second season, which does not yet have a premiere date, follows Hemsworth around the globe yet again, from his native Australia to the far reaches of Nepal, Italy and the United Kingdom, all in search of the secrets to living a long and healthy life. He will take on four more challenges and consult with experts and spiritual leaders while exploring physical and mental challenges that we’re all familiar with, including burnout and pain.

Elsewhere, National Geographic also announced that it has picked up another season of “A Real Bug’s Life,” while new series include “SharkBeach with Anthony Mackie,” the latest installment in the SharkBeach franchise, and “Pathological: Chasing a True Crime Con Man,” a true crime docuseries series that offers meta commentary on the true crime genre and our fascination with it.
