National Coffee Day: Where to score free coffee and other deals

When you get ready to start your morning on Friday, skip making your own coffee or turning on the coffee pot.

Every Sept. 29 is a special day for coffee and coffee drinkers — it’s deemed National Coffee Day. The brew is also celebrated globally on Oct. 1 for International Coffee Day.

Nearly two-thirds of Americans start their day with coffee, according to the National Coffee Association’s 2023 fall trends highlights. Americans drink an estimated 440 million cups daily, which equates to each coffee drinker consuming nearly three cups per day. In a given week, while most Americans (61%) drink traditional coffee, more than half (53%) have specialty coffee.

The industry association also pegs the Midwest, that’s us, as the top coffee-drinking region in the U.S.
