National Cinema Day: How to grab $4 movie tickets at participating Florida theaters

What can $4 get you in 2023? One adult ticket to see Barbie, Oppenheimer or any other movie currently playing in theaters. The catch? The deal is part of the Cinema Foundation’s National Cinema Day, so you have one day to cash in on the savings.

The second National Cinema Day is Sunday and will celebrate the “power of movies to bring us all together, and discounted admissions for all movies at participating U.S. theaters in all formats (including Premium Large Format screens) will be no more than $4,” the Cinema Foundation said in a press release.

Here’s how you can make the most of National Cinema Day.

What theaters are celebrating National Cinema Day?

Approximately 30,000 screens across 3,000 locations are expected to take part in the one-day event, according to The Cinema Foundation, the non-profit organizing the event. Popular cinema chains, including AMC Theatres and Regal Movies, have also announced their participation in the event and are even offering discounted popcorn.

To buy tickets or see a list of participating theaters, visit NationalCinemaDay.org, Fandango or your local movie theater’s website or app.

How to buy National Cinema Day tickets in Florida for $4

There is no special process to purchase tickets for National Cinema Day but ordering online is the easiest method. Here’s what to do:

  1. Visit Fandango or the website of your favorite theater.

  2. Find a National Cinema Day banner and click on it.

  3. You should be taken to a movie showtimes page where you can select your movie, showtime and other options.

  4. Setting the date to Aug. 27 should automatically set the ticket price to $4.

  5. Follow the normal checkout process for your selected theater.

If you don’t see a National Cinema Day banner, you can try going straight to showtimes, setting the date to Aug. 27 and see if the price is reflected. If that doesn’t work, check with the theater about participation.

Movies you can watch on National Cinema Day

Summer hits including "Barbie," "Oppenheimer," "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One" and "Blue Beetle" are on the menu as well as new films opening this weekend like "Gran Turismo," "Golda," "The Hill," "Retribution" and "Bottoms".
