National Chicken Wing Day 2023: Where to find free, discount deals in metro Detroit

Drums or flats. Spicy or sweet. Hot or mild.

If you love chicken wings, Saturday is the day for you. July 29, is celebrated annually as National Chicken Wing Day. It's the 46th anniversary of the day proclaimed by Buffalo, New York, Mayor Stan Makowski. The city of Buffalo is considered the birthplace of chicken wings. The dish itself is credited to Teressa Bellissimo, co-owner of the Anchor Bar in Buffalo. Bellissimo created the chicken wings, deep frying them and then tossing in butter and hot sauce for her son Dominic and some of his college friends as a late-night snack.
