Natalie Portman has been venturing out on red carpets and Hollywood events without husband Benjamin Millepied on her arm lately and fans have an inkling as to what might have happened. In 2023, the French magazine, Voici, posted allegations of infidelity on the ballet choreographer’s part with 25-year-old environmental activist Camille Étienne. Portman has never denied nor confirmed the rumor, but she did break her silence about the hot topic.

In Vanity Fair‘s 30th annual Hollywood issue, the 42-year-old Oscar winner was asked about the cheating story. “It’s terrible, and I have no desire to contribute to it,” she simply stated. The reporter empathized with her situation and noted that they “don’t love asking about it, either.” Portman responded appreciatively, “I can imagine.”

Whether the rumor is true or not, it’s easy to see that Portman and Millepied are having some type of challenge in their marriage, and she hinted to WSJ Magazine late last year that she lives in Paris with her son Aleph, 12, and daughter, Amalia, 6, without a mention of her husband. Now, a Daily Mail source is indicating that a divorce is on the horizon, but Portman is taking precious steps to “process and heal” first as they seem to be leading separate lives.

“Natalie and Benjamin tried to make it work but she simply could not get past his cheating on her,” the insider added. “Divorce is in the works, but nothing has been filed as of yet. They are split, however, and she is living in Paris while Benjamin continues to work in the US.” Millepied heads the L.A. Dance Project, a dance company that is currently expanding its presence in downtown Los Angeles with a new studio and performance space, according to The New York Times.

Portman met Millepied on the set of the Black Swan when he was hired to train her for her intense ballet scenes in the film. They fell in love while making the movie even though he was allegedly living with girlfriend Isabella Boylston, an American Ballet Theatre dancer, at the time. Portman and Millepied married in 2012, over a year after they welcomed their son. The couple has supported each other during their high-profile projects all over the world, but they’ve done their best to keep their private life off the radar — until now.
