Natalie Portman’s Latest Appearance Gave Hints About Her Marriage After Her Husband’s Alleged Affair

Natalie Portman has remained in the public eye over the last six months despite the allegations that her husband, Benjamin Millepied, stepped out on their marriage with 25-year-old French climate activist, Camille Étienne. That reported betrayal put their 11-year-union in jeopardy as the couple has tried to navigate a rocky road to reconciliation after Portman discovered the affair in March.

Her latest red-carpet appearance may indicate how things are going right now even though she hasn’t spoken publicly about the rumors. At the Nov. 16 premiere of her upcoming film, May December, Portman looked stunning in an artistic black Schiaparelli mini dress with a plunging V-neckline and a sky-high hemline. She let the dress, and her lack of accessories, do all of the talking for her: her wedding ring was nowhere to be found that evening. Millepied also did not attend the star-studded event, instead, Portman posed with her co-star Julianne Moore during the photo call.
It seems that “the pain is still very fresh” for Portman, according to OK! Magazine sources. “Natalie wants to see if they can save this. She is trying,” the insider shared. “She felt she’d made so many sacrifices throughout their marriage in order to make Benjamin happy, only for him to make a fool out of her.” The estranged couple have been living in Paris while Millepied directed his movie, Carmen, a project that Étienne reportedly worked on.
He allegedly met his mistress “through mutual friends” who are a part of “a cliquey group in the film community who favor art and creativity over big-budget box office bonanzas.” Even though the affair was reportedly “short-lived”, and it is now “over,” the damage has been done to Portman’s marriage. Millepied “knows he made an enormous mistake, and he is doing all he can to get Natalie to forgive him and keep their family together.” That’s a decision Portman will have to make for herself privately.
