Natalie Portman and husband Benjamin Millepied divorce after 11 years of marriage

The Oscar-winning "Black Swan" actress met Millepied when he worked as the film's choreographer.

Natalie Portman and her Black Swan choreographer husband, Benjamin Millepied, have divorced after 11 years of marriage.

EW has confirmed that after separating in early 2023 following reports of Millepied allegedly having an affair, the two finalized their divorce in February in France, where they live with their two children, 12-year-old Aleph and 7-year-old Amalia. PEOPLE broke the news Friday.

"It was initially really tough for her, but her friends rallied around her and helped get her through the worst of it," a friend of the couple told PEOPLE last year. "Natalie is coming out of a really tough and painful year but she's come out the other side of it stronger and is finding joy in her family, friends and work."

Portman faced speculation of the pair's separation after she was spotted at public events throughout the last year without her wedding ring.

"It’s terrible," Portman recently told Vanity Fair when asked about public scrutiny of her relationship. "I have no desire to contribute to it."

EW has reached out to representatives for Portman and Millepied for comment.

Portman, 42, and Millepied, 46, first met while working together on the set of Darren Aronofsky's 2010 hit Black Swan, which went on to win Portman her first Oscar for Best Actress. They married Aug. 4, 2012.

Recently, Millepied choreographed Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two, after helming a 2022 musical adaptation of Carmen as the project's director.

Portman courted critical acclaim for her 2023 turn in Netflix's May December opposite Julianne Moore, and is next set to lead Apple TV+'s limited series adaptation of Laura Lippman's book Lady in the Lake.
