Natalie McComb is new executive director of Reilly Arts Center/Ocala Symphony Orchestra

The Ocala Symphony Orchestra and the Reilly Arts Center have named Natalie McComb as the new executive director, succeeding the outgoing Pamela Calero Wardell.

Wardell served as executive director for nearly a decade and began her new position as senior director of development of the Jacksonville Symphony on Feb. 1. McComb starts on Feb. 12.

McComb is a nonprofit development and communications professional with over 15 years of experience as a leader and fundraiser, according to a bio that accompanied the news release announcing the hire. She has held development roles with the University of Pennsylvania, Temple University, the United Way of Marion County, and most recently served as vice president of the Ocala Metro Chamber and Economic Partnership Foundation, where she hosted a bi-monthly podcast featuring interviews with local business and community leaders.

“It is truly an honor to have the opportunity to lead such an incredibly talented team and organization,” she said in the release when talking about her new role with the Reilly Center. “Their passion, grit and creativity have cemented the Reilly and its entities as premier destinations for music, performing arts and cinema in our region. I’m excited to continue this strong tradition of excellence and look forward to creating new and innovative opportunities for us to grow.”

Along with her professional work, McComb has a lifetime love of the performing arts, both onstage and backstage. She grew up in Apopka and was a passionate actress, singer and organizer of many school productions, and her love of music makes her a regular concert-goer. She is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications, holding credentials as a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and a Six Sigma Yellow Belt. She is actively involved in many community boards, and is currently a Take Stock in Children volunteer mentor.

“Natalie’s natural authenticity, passion for community, love for the arts, and extensive leadership capabilities make her a perfect choice,” said Matthew Wardell in a statement. “Pamela and I were so impressed by her during the interview process, and are excited to see the Reilly’s next phase of success. I’m really looking forward to partnering with her as the Ocala Symphony Orchestra continues to grow – as both a regional attraction as well as a truly catalytic arts organization.”

Although Matthew Wardell will step down as CEO of the Reilly — as part of his and Calero Wardell’s transition to Jacksonville — he will continue to serve as both music director and conductor, as well as artistic adviser to the Reilly Arts Center. Adam Volpe, who has worked closely with both Wardells and has been instrumental in developing systems and talent buying for the Marion Theatre, was promoted from his role as director to senior director of operations and programming.
