Natalie Dormer Is a Sexy Demon in First Look at ‘Penny Dreadful’ Sequel Series ‘City of Angels’ (Photo)
“Penny Dreadful” fans, prepare yourselves because we finally have a first-look image from the upcoming sequel series, “City of Angeles.”
On Wednesday, Entertainment Weekly published two photos of the upcoming Showtime drama’s star, Natalie Dormer, in character as Magda, a shape-shifting demon and “agent of chaos” in 1930s Los Angeles.
Along with the “Game of Thrones” alum, the series, which will debut on Showtime in 2020, stars Daniel Zovatto, Nathan Lane, Michael Gladis, Lorenza Izzo, Adam Rodriguez, Thomas Kretschmann, Dominic Sherwood and Ethan Peck.

Showtime describes the series as “a spiritual descendant” of the original “Penny Dreadful,” which was set in Victorian-era London. The new series “opens in 1938 Los Angeles, a time and place deeply infused with social and political tension.”
“When a grisly murder shocks the city, Detective Tiago Vega (Zovatto) is embroiled in an epic story that reflects the rich history of Los Angeles: from the building of the city’s first freeways and its deep traditions of Mexican-American folklore to the dangerous espionage actions of the Third Reich and the rise of radio evangelism. Before long, Tiago and his family are grappling with powerful forces that threaten to tear them apart,” the description of the show reads.
“Penny Dreadful” creator John Logan is writing and executive producing “City of Angels” as well. Michael Aguilar (“Kidding”) also serves as an executive producer.
