Nashville's iconic Bluebird Cafe sustains damage from storms, cancels Tuesday shows

Nashville's iconic Bluebird Cafe sustained damage from Monday evening's storms prompting them to cancel Tuesday evening shows, according to a post on their Instagram account.

On Monday night, Nashville experienced powerful gusts of wind and rain. Nashville is under a wind advisory, which stretches until Tuesday evening at midnight. Some areas may expect up to 50 mph winds throughout Tuesday evening.

As cautionary weather sweeps across the city and Middle Tennessee, the tiny music venue, revered for showcasing both up-and-coming performers and seasoned singer-songwriters, must now recover from the storm's fallout. The extent of these damages is not yet clear.

"Important information about tonight’s shows," the venue's Instagram post read. "Due to damage sustained from last night’s storm, The Bluebird Cafe will be closed on January 9th.

"All ticket holders have been contacted directly, so if you haven’t heard from us, check your email! We truly apologize and thank you for your understanding as we work to ensure everyone’s safety."

This evening at The Bluebird Cafe included a 6 p.m. "In the Round" event presented by ASCAP and featuring Alyssa Bonagura, Austin Jenckes, Makayla Lynn and Tristin McIntosh. An "In the Round" at 9 p.m. with Benita Hill, Becky Hobbes and Billy Yates, a benefit for Alive Hospice, was also canceled.

One Instagram commenter said, "I know the Bluebird will rise like a phoenix."

For now, concert-goers may consider a night in with their speakers turned up or their record players spinning, shielded indoors from the blustery wind, rain or possible light snow.
