‘Nashville’ Returns With New Network and New Drama

On Thursday, Nashville premiered its fifth season on its new network, CMT. The country-music-centric show was canceled by ABC last season. Fortunately, CMT saved the show by putting it on its network.

Last season ended with a cliffhanger. Hayden Panettiere’s character, Juliette, was in a plane crash. This season, we found Juliette saved by a bystander, who she viewed as an angel. Three weeks after the crash, we found her trying to recover from her injuries.

Rayna, played by Connie Britton, found herself struggling to keep her record label afloat. She had to travel to do a corporate gig in Silicon Valley.

Despite all the changes, we got to see several beautiful musical performances in the show.

Nashville airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on CMT.
