Predators fire head coach Peter Laviolette
The Nashville Predators have fired head coach Peter Laviolette and associate coach Kevin McCarthy, the team announced on Monday.

Both Laviolette and McCarthy have been with the Predators since the 2014-15 season.
The two have been working together since Laviolette was brought on as the Carolina Hurricanes’ head coach in 2003.
“Under the leadership of Peter and Kevin, our organization reached unprecedented heights — from our franchise-altering run to the Stanley Cup Final to a Presidents' Trophy and our first two Central Division titles,” Predators GM David Poile stated in the press release.
“Their passion for the game, ability to motivate a team and drive to be the best makes this a difficult decision. On behalf of the entire organization, I would like to thank Peter and Kevin for all their contributions to the Nashville Predators over the past five-and-a-half seasons.”
The Predators have a 248-143-60 record under Laviolette, including a disappointing 19-15-7 record this season. Their 45 points through 41 games places them four points out of a hotly-contested wild card spot in the Western Conference.
The team has yet to name their replacements, but will reportedly make an announcement ahead of Tuesday’s matchup against the Boston Bruins.
