Nashville police investigating after 16-year-old dies following shooting, crash into IHOP

A 16-year-old has died after a shooting and crash into a Nolensville Pike IHOP.

Nashville police said Alexander Delgado was injured while driving on Harding Place ultimately crashing into the restaurant at the corner of Nolensville Pikes about 12:45 a.m. Saturday.

Delgado was found in the driver's seat with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he ultimately died.

A witness reported hearing gunfire before the crash, police said. The gunshots damaged the back passenger window and rear window. Investigators found a 9mm handgun in the floorboard of the car.
