Narragansett Beer takes over the movies and other fun food things to do in August

There's a tap takeover coming up this weekend. But it's at the movies, not a bar.

The Narragansett Takeover at two Showcase Cinema locations is a first, as well as a collaboration between Rhode Island staples.

From Friday, Aug. 4 through Sunday, Aug. 6, Narragansett Beer will be take over the taps at Showcase Cinema de Lux in Warwick and Providence Place Cinemas 16. The New England craft brewer serves fan favorites including Summer Crusher, Del’s Lemon Shandy, Atlantic Light Lager and classic lager. Movie watchers 21+ can try an exclusive sampling of the beers Saturday, Aug. 5 from 4–8 p.m.

With a focus on offering premium food and beverage options, Showcase Cinemas offers the partnership to give an enhanced movie–going experience. The recent renovation of the Warwick theater (including drinks at the lobby bar) makes this the right time for the collab. An immersive, state–of–the–art experience including IMAX is offered at the Providence location.

A fun event for a good cause

I just love the Little Sisters of the Poor of Pawtucket. These nuns do so much good work, especially taking care of the elderly. They need your support with an upcoming event.

New restaurants in Providence: These are the dishes you've got to try.

They will hold a Summer Soirée on Wednesday, Aug. 23, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Jeanne Jugan Residence, 964 Main St., Pawtucket. Tickets are $50 and include wine and craft beer as well as small bites from area restaurants. The event will take place outdoors in the residence’s garden. Mystery wine bags will also be available for purchase, with all proceeds supporting the Little Sisters’ mission of caring for the elderly poor.
