Naomie Olindo Opens Up About Leaving NYC and "Starting Over" in Charleston

Last year, Naomie Olindo moved back to Charleston just ten days after relocating to New York City with her then-boyfriend, Metul Shah. In the above video, which is a first look at the Season 8 premiere of Southern Charm, Naomie opens up about the emotional process of saying goodbye to the Big Apple following their breakup. Press play on the video above to see what Naomie has to say.

"I was so sad being back in Charleston because I thought I was going to, like, move to New York and grow," she tells Venita Aspen. "The thought of coming back was just depressing."

"I had a big going-away party. I was like, 'Goodbye everybody,'" Naomie continues, adding that once she and Metul split and she moved back to South Carolina, she was "real humbled, real quick."

In an interview, Naomie recalls the feeling of leaving NYC (and the former couple's "perfect" rental apartment in the West Village neighborhood). "I crawled all the way back to Charleston, tail tucked between my legs," she says. "I'm starting over."

In September 2021, nearly two months after Naomie returned to Charleston, she shared on Instagram that she was getting a "fresh start" in gorgeous "new digs." However, by May 2022, she was ready to say goodbye to the house. In Instagram Stories last month, she explained that she was “very stressed" as she packed up her belongings to head to a new home.

Southern Charm is streaming on Peacock and available on the Bravo app.
