Naomi Campbell hit the runway Tuesday (Sept. 5) to celebrate her first collection with PrettyLittleThing.
Taking place at Cipriani 25 Broadway, Campbell strutted her stuff to close out the evening, but was admittedly “nervous” for the young models who hit the stage before she did.
“I was nervous,” she admitted to People after the show. “I just wanted to make sure the girls were okay, that they could walk okay, that everyone’s going to be strong and poised. I was saying, ‘Strong, strong, strong, strong’ and ‘be yourself, let your personality show.’”
Campbell noted that the industry doesn’t “let the girls show their personality anymore,” but insisted they do so for her collection.
“I wanted them to show their personality, but yet be strong at the same time.”
During a conversation with MailOnline, Campbell also addressed those who take issue with her collaborating with a fast fashion brand, as they’ve often been accused of unethical production practices. For the supermodel, however, it’s all about making fashion inclusive of all shapes, sizes and budgets.
“I feel this collection was fun, chic, sexy, vibrant, inclusive, and fashion should not discriminate… who’s to say that PrettyLittleThing are not going to continue working with young creatives and leading and changing into sustainability, who knows. New beginnings,” she shared.
Celebrities who stepped out to support Campbell included Winnie Harlow, Emily Ratajkowski, La La Anthony, Lori Harvey, Julia Fox, and performer Davido. Check out snaps from the event below.
