Pelosi On Maher
HBO's PR account on Twitter tweeted about it today.
According to their press release:
"REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER begins its 18th season FRIDAY, JAN. 17 (10:00–11:00 p.m. live ET/tape-delayed PT), with a replay at 12:30 a.m., exclusively on HBO. Allowing Maher to offer his unique perspective on contemporary issues, the show includes an opening monologue, roundtable discussions with panelists and interviews with guests."
'Top Of the Show'
The statement continues:
"Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is the top-of-show interview guest. 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang is the mid-show interview guest. The roundtable guests are author and former Rep. Joe Walsh, journalist and co-founder of Recode Kara Swisher and author Jon Meacham."
And of course the press release mentioned Maher's ability as a host:
"Politico has hailed Maher as “a pugnacious debater and a healthy corrective to the claptrap of cable news,” while Variety noted, “There may not be a more eclectic guest list on all of television.”
Also joining Maher will be Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang, business journalist Kara Swisher, presidential biographer Jon Meacham and former Republican Rep. Joe Walsh.Swisher, Meacham and Walsh will sit in a panel discussion that Maher will moderate.
Given this is Bill Maher, people on social media obviously have opposing opinions on his left-leaning show.
@shawnzone wrote:"Note: He is an entertainer not a wise man, it is a TV show, there will be nothing of substance. You are Gen Z/Millennial, not the target audience. #LeftIsBest"
"Would not watch or listen to him if he was the last person on earth," said @jaacckkee.
Another person quickly jumped to the conclusion that the musician Joe Walsh would be on the show. Honestly that's a fair assumption.
"Every time I see Joe Walsh listed on your show, my first thought is hoping he brings his guitar. It's a great name Joe, but I immediately jump to the eagles...…….not a bad comparison I suppose."
Things Are a Bit Touchy In Washington
This week, the House of Representatives voted on a War Powers Resolution in a nonbonding resolution to limit President Trump's military capabilities in Iran, after tensions flared between the two countries this week.
We Trust It Will Be an Interesting Episode
Maher closed out Season 17 talking about the state of politics in America today.
“I have learned that the anti-intellectualism on the right doesn’t come primarily through stupidity it comes from hate. Telling people that you think they’re irredeemable is what makes them say ‘You know what, I’d rather side with Russia than you.' ”
