‘Nancy Drew,’ ‘Batwoman’ Get Full Season Orders at the CW

The CW has given full season pickups to both of its new fall dramas, the network announced on Friday.

“Batwoman” and “Nancy Drew” have been picked up for nine additional episodes, bringing their first season totals to 22 each.

The pickups come relatively early for both shows, which just premiered earlier this month, but the network is touting their gains in delayed viewing, with “Batwoman” rising 80% among adults 18-49 and “Nancy Drew” growing 114%, according to Nielsen’s live-plus-seven numbers.

“Batwoman” stars Ruby Rose as the caped superhero, the latest entry in the CW’s growing line-up of DC comics series. Dougray Scott, Meagan Tandy, Elizabeth Anweis, Nicole Kang and Camrus Johnson also star. Executive producers are Greg Berlanti, Caroline Dries, Geoff Johns and Sarah Schechter.

“Nancy Drew” is an updated take on the iconic teen sleuth, starring Kennedy McMann, Leah Lewis, Maddison Jaizani, Tunji Kasim, Alex Saxon and Scott Wolf. It is executive produced by Noga Landau, Melinda Hsu Taylor, Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Lis Rowinski.

The CW has just one other new series yet to premiere this season, with the “Riverdale” offshoot “Katy Keene” set to land sometime next year. The new shows come as the network is about to bid goodbye to three of the oldest series on its schedule — “Supernatural,” “The 100” and the CW’s original DC hero show, “Arrow,” are all set to end with their current or upcoming seasons.
