Nadja Regin, 'James Bond' actress, dies at 87

Nadja Regin, the Serbian actress who appeared in the Bond films "From Russia With Love" and "Goldfinger," has died at the age of 87, the official "James Bond" Twitter account announced.

"We are very sorry to learn that Nadja Regin has passed away at the age of 87," the Monday tweet read. "Nadja appeared in two Bond films, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE and GOLDFINGER. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time."

Regin first appeared in "From Russia with Love" alongside Sean Connery in 1964, playing the mistress of Bond ally Kerim Bey. In the subsequent Bond film, 1965's "Goldfinger," she played the villainous belly dancer Bonita, who attempts to seduce Connery's Bond while also working for one of Bond's rivals, a nearby heroin dealer.

“I think it was maybe given to me as compensation because I was meant to have more scenes in 'From Russia With Love,' ” Regin told the U.K's 007 Magazine about her "Goldfinger" role. “I think that’s why they also gave me a part in 'Goldfinger.' ”

Regin's death comes a week after Tania Mallet, who played Bond girl Tilly Masterson alongside Sean Connery in "Goldfinger," died at the age of 77.

Following her appearance in the "Bond" films, Regin appeared in several British TV series before leaving acting in the 1980s to establish a publishing company, Honeyglen Publishing Ltd, with her sister Jelena.
