N.J. Man Allegedly Caught on Camera Staging Slipping on Ice Cubes for Insurance Money

A man in New Jersey filed an insurance claim alleging he was injured after he slipped and fell at his workplace.

However, Alexander Goldinsky, 57, from Randolph was allegedly captured on security surveillance video at the Woodbridge Township business intentionally throwing ice cubes on the ground, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Between September and November 2018, the suspect, who is an independent contractor, allegedly filed a false insurance claim for the ambulance service and treatment he received at a local hospital for injuries he claimed he sustained following the incident, prosecutors say.

Investigators, citing video that has circulated widely on social media, allege Goldinsky purposely threw ice on the floor in the workplace cafeteria, placed himself on the ground and waited until he was discovered.

In the footage, released by prosecutors, a man dressed in a navy shirt and khaki trousers can be seen collecting ice from the drink machine and throwing the frozen blocks before dropping to the ground in the same area.

Goldinsky, who was subcontracted to work at a company in Woodbridge at the time of the incident, was arrested on Jan. 15.

He was charged this week with one count of insurance fraud in the third degree and one count of theft by deception in the third degree.

“Fraudulent claims cost everyone and we will aggressively prosecute those who illegally manipulate the system,” Prosecutor Andrew Carey said in a press release.

Goldinsky was released on a summons and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 7.

It was not immediately clear if Goldinsky has entered a plea or retained an attorney who could comment on his/her behalf.
