A New Jersey man is charged with murder after he allegedly shot and killed three people Monday, authorities say.

Om Brahmbhatt is accused of shooting Dilipkumar Brahmbhatt, 72, Bindu Brahmbhatt, 72, and Yashkumar Brahmbhatt, 38, the South Plainfield Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office say in a release.

Dilipkumar and Bindu were pronounced dead at the scene, while Yashkumar, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, authorities say.

Police say Om is in custody at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center, police say, pending a detention hearing. He is charged with three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

It is not immediately clear if Om has retained an attorney.
