'MythBusters' to End in 2016

Discovery’s longest-running series will come to an end this winter.

MythBusters will sign off after one final season, premiering Jan. 9, the network confirmed today.

“Making MythBusters has fundamentally and irrevocably altered the way I think as a person, as an artist, and as a scientist. I’m glad for the chance to say goodbye with some of the best television we’ve ever made. I will miss making this show,” co-host Adam Savage said in the announcement.

Added co-host Jamie Hyneman, “I never dreamed we would be on television at all, much less for such a long time and with so much praise for keeping a thought provoking show on the air. And best of all, we were able to do what we do and still have all our fingers and toes.”

That is an impressive feat considering the show, in its 248 episodes, has featured 900 explosions.

Fans are encouraged to say goodbye to the show by using the #MythYouGuys on social media. Some farewells will be featured on the show.
