Myles Garrett Eyes Historical Sack Mark

The Cleveland Browns defense struggled outside of the play of Myles Garrett last season. A vast majority of the team’s 2021 offseason has been spent on upgrading the talent around Garrett.

While missing two games, and being limited following his return from COVID-19, Garrett put up 48 tackles, 12 sacks, 18 quarterback hits, 10 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, two fumbles recovered and two passes defended. By himself, Garrett was an offense-wrecking machine.

Those numbers line up with his career in the NFL and led to his huge 5-year, $125 million contract extension signed last offseason. Despite missing 13 games due to injury and suspension, Garrett has accumulated 42.5 sacks in just 51 games for an average of 0.83 sacks per game.

To put that number into perspective, Garrett only trails the legendary Reggie White’s 0.85 sacks per game historically.

Garrett has taken notice and has his eyes set on taking over that top spot:

Jack Duffin, who provides content for The Dawg Land, provided Garrett his answer as requested:

With a significantly upgraded secondary and a revamped defensive line, Garrett could be in line to accumulate the needed 16 sacks in this upcoming season. If not, his presence should open up Takk McKinley, Jadeveon Clowney, and others for career years.

Good to see that Myles Garrett has his eyes set on a historical mark this season on the way toward more team-oriented goals.
