Mykelti Williamson, Ravi Patel, Annabeth Gish, Newcomer Alex Kersting Plus More Join Mira Sorvino In ‘Butter’

EXCLUSIVE: Mykelti Williamson (Fences, Chicago P.D.), Annabeth Gish (The Haunting of Hill House, The X Files), Ravi Patel (upcoming Wonder Woman 1984), Brian Van Holt (The Bridge, Black Hawk Down), McKaley Miller (upcoming Blumhouse film Ma), Monte Markham (The Six Million Dollar Man), and newcomer Alex Kersting are set for Butter, joining Mira Sorvino in the Paul A. Kaufman-directed indie film.

Written by Kaufman, based on the novel by Erin Jade Lange, the plot centers on Butter (Kersting), a lonely, obese teenager constantly bullied in his high school. Tired of his ridiculed life and his inability to lose weight, he devises a plan to eat himself to death live on the Internet.

Williamson will play Professor Dunn, Butter’s music mentor and the only one in his life who shows compassion and sees his true potential. Miller is Butter’s dream girlfriend, Anna. Patel portrays Butter’s caring and offbeat Doctor who tries to make positive changes in his life. Holt has been cast as Butter’s father, while Gish will play Butter’s psychiatrist.

Kaufman is producing the project, which he fully financed under his The Power Of Us Entertainment shingle. J. Todd Harris of Branded Pictures Entertainment is also producing, along with Christina Sibul.
