My First Home Run: Angels top prospect Jo Adell 'hit one a mile' when he was 7
You always remember your first one — even when you’re 7 years old.
Jo Adell, the celebrated young Los Angeles Angels outfielder and No. 4 prospect in all of MLB, may be on the fast tract to the big leagues these days, but once upon a time, he was just a kid playing baseball, too.
Adell, now 20, perfectly recalls his first home run, which came 13 years ago. He was a kid playing baseball in Louisville. And his father Scott — who played football at North Carolina State and was drafted by the Saints — wasn’t there to see it.
Still, Adell recalls hitting the ball “a mile” and chugging around the bases. That is the dream when you’re 7 years old. And he talks about it in this installment of our “My First Home Run” series.
The next dream? Hitting one in the big leagues. Adell is currently in Triple-A, having been promoted on Aug. 1, and will likely be in the big leagues next year. If not sooner.
You can bet Scott Adell won’t miss that one.
