With Lana Del Rey fresh off her second chart-topping album, we open this week’s Must-Hear Music podcast talking about Lust For Life, certainly one of 2017 and LDR’s best (we hone in on the ’60s girl group soul of album-closer “Get Free”).

After that, we move on to “Love$ick” from Guernsey-born electronic producer Mura Masa and A$AP Rocky. Taken from the former’s self-titled album, it’s an impressive illustration of the DJ’s ability to create an uncluttered but instrumentally dynamic track.

We also talk about 2017’s Battle of the Boy Bands on this episode. Five years ago, it was One Direction vs. The Wanted. Nearly 20 years ago, it was *NSYNC vs. Backstreet Boys. Today, it’s PrettyMuch and Why Don’t We squaring off for late ’10s boy band supremacy. Or is the world big enough for two boy bands these days, especially when they sound this different?

In decidedly non-boy band territory, we talk about Arcade Fire’s Everything Now, as well as Julia Michaels’ “Worst of Me,” a raw meditation on the difficulty of working on relationships and how love can bring out the worst in us.
