A new music video shot in Fall River features local artists. Here's what to know.

FALL RIVER — Two local dancers and dance studio owners will feature in a new music video that was shot in Fall River.

“I grew up on her music,” said Keith Silva, co-owner of Artistic Dance Studio. “It was really cool to have that here in the city.”

Silva was talking about singer-songwriter Rockell, best known for her single “In a Dream.” She’s currently gearing up to release her latest single, and settled on shooting the corresponding music video in Fall River.

Silva and his wife, Marissa Tavano, have run Artistic Dance Studio for more than a decade.

Last month, a friend of Silva’s, Brian Martins of The Portuguese Kids, reached out to the pair to see if they could choreograph and perform a dance for Rockell’s new video, a cover of the Supreme’s “You Keep Me Hanging On.”

Where was Rockell's video shot in Fall River?

The video, which will be released later in September, will include plenty of familiar Fall River landmarks, like the ships at Battleship Cove and the Braga Bridge. Silva and Tavano are the only two dancers to feature in the video.

“Whatever we brought to the table, she really liked,” Silva said.

Fall River dancers touring with Rockell

Along with dancing in the video, the couple will also be touring with Rockell later this year to perform in her shows. They have an upcoming show at Mohegan Sun Arena on Oct. 14.

Silva said they tried to come up with a dance that would fit the tone of the lyrics and work alongside Rockell’s musical style.

“She’s very connected to it, it’s something that’s emotional to her,” he said. “It has some energy to it, so we just had to try to connect to that.”
