'Music for a Summer Night' concerts in Somerset and Tiverton feature Sondheim, Disney tunes

The Summer Chorus of Rhode Island and Southeast Massachusetts will present “Music for a Summer Night,” at two venues: Thursday, Aug. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Theresa’s Church, 265 Stafford Road, Tiverton and Saturday, Aug. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Thomas More Parish, 386 Luther Ave., Somerset.

The musical program will include a Stephen Sondheim Choral Celebration, Disney on Stage with songs from different Disney Movies, Rock & Roll Remember with songs for Dick Clark’s American Bandstand, Simon and Garfunkle’s Sound of Silence, Beethoven’s Hallelujah Chorus from his Mount of Olives, Faure’s Cantique de Jean Racine and finishing with a selection for our Veterans.

Directed by Frank Wilhelm and accompanied by Erik Thompson, the Summer Chorus, a 501c3 nonprofit, has over 70 members from Southeastern Mass and throughout Rhode Island.

Tickets are $15 and $13 for seniors. Children under 12 are free. To purchase advance tickets, please visit www.summerchorus.org.
