Music offerings might be limited this week, but there are plenty of great shows to catch

It seems like the weekend might be a bit slower, but the beginning of next week is packed with music offerings.

THURSDAY, May 2: Mike Casano Jazz Quartet sets up shop at the Spire Center in Plymouth

The Mike Casano Jazz Quartet is at the Spire Center in Plymouth. The Decemberists' Americana at Roadrunner in Allston. The quartet of Boston songwriters known as Darlingside holds court at the Narrows Center in Fall River. Maine's Mallett Brothers Band, one of New England's finest rock/Americana bands, at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke. Teezo Touchdown raps and sings at The Paradise Rock Club in Boston. Road trip: Americana icons The Jayhawks play at Beverly's Cabot Theater.

Bagful of Blues returns to Mia Regazza in Marshfield. The eclectic sounds of Club D'Elf charm Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke. The C Note in Hull hosts a benefit for American Legion Post 140, with five bands including Arakana. Ra Ra Riot rocks Royale in Boston. Four Sticks – a Led Zeppelin tribute – thunders into Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke. Dustin Kensrue, the singer from the band Thrice, brings his solo show to Brighton Music Hall. Songsmith Sarah Jarosz at The Sinclair in Cambridge. The Deep River Ramblers harmonize at Club Passim in Harvard Square. Comedian Sonja Morgan has sold out her show at City Winery in Boston, but seats are still available for Americana artist Natalia Bonfini in the venue's Haymarket Lounge. Bearly Dead jams at The Met Cafe in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Numbers of the Beast – an Iron Maiden tribute – thunders into The District Center for the Arts in Taunton.  The Narrows Center in Fall River has given its stage over this weekend to the Little Theater of Fall River, and its production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" is sold out Friday and Saturday.

Acoustic bluesman and songwriter Mark T. Small headlines the South Shore Folk Music Club's concert at Duxbury's First Parish. Folk singer Ellis Paul is the consummate musical storyteller, so his date at the Spire Center in Plymouth is a hot ticket. Workman Song's wide world of rock returns to The C Note in Hull. Nova Scotia rockers TWRP – originally Tupperware Remix Party – get down at The Paradise Rock Club in Boston. The Folk Collective's annual concert is at Club Passim in Cambridge, with Cliff Notez and Gabriella Simpkins among the acts. Playing Dead reprises the music of you-know-who at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke. Alt-rocker/rapper Layto hits Brighton Music Hall. The World Premier Band gets you dancing at The District Center for the Arts in Taunton. The rock power trio Lespecial jams at The Met Cafe in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The Boston rock trio known as Slothrust takes over the Sinclair in Cambridge. Hip-hop/electronica act Black Kray takes over Big Night Live in Boston.

SUNDAY, May 5:  Shady Roosters rule the roost the Spire Center

Sunday gets going early with the 2 p.m. Shady Roosters residency at the Spire Center in Plymouth; and the 4-8 p.m. blues jam Players in Rockland, hosted by the Michele Rockwell Band; plus the all-day Cinco De Mayo Porchfest hosted by The C Note in Hull, with four bands, topped by Seawitch.  Sunday night, songbird Juliet Ivy is at Brighton Music Hall; former Bostonian Glenn Yoder and Western States are back, at The Lizard Lounge in Cambridge; songwriter/hip-hopper Donny Benet is at Royale in Boston; Chilean/Mexican pop star Mon Laferte headlines Boston's Orpheum Theater; Queens punk rockers Bayside shake up Roadrunner in Boston.

TUESDAY: Icelandic pop princess Laufey opens a two-night stand at The Wang Center in Boston; a fascinating night in store when songwriters Lyle Lovett and Lisa Loeb talk and sing at The Wilbur Theater in Boston; thunder rolls in when Bad Religion and Social Distortion take over MGM Music Hall in Boston; and Nashville songwriter Katie Pruitt stops by Brighton Music Hall.

WEDNESDAY:  Hollywood rockers The Black Veil Brides arrive at the House of Blues in Boston; Finnish metal band Wheel is at Brighton Music Hall.

MAY 9: British guitar god Albert Lee is at the Narrows Center in Fall River; while the rock 'n' soul of St. Paul & the Broken Bones headlines Roadrunner in Boston; and Uncle John's Banjo jams at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke.
