From music to Mustangs, plenty of fun options this weekend in Volusia, Flagler

A veteran rock ‘n’ roller waves goodbye, but the love affair with a classic American car rolls on.

Such is the range of emotions tied to this weekend’s assortment of entertainment events in and around Daytona Beach.

Here are the top promising options for fun:

Motor City Madman bids adieu

Veteran rocker and political pot-stirrer Ted Nugent brings his “Adios Mofos ’23!” tour to the World’s Most Famous Beach for an 8 p.m. Saturday show at Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach.

Never at a loss for words, Nugent promised “the greatest, the most intense, tightest, most dynamic, most outrageously fun tour of my life” in announcing the farewell trek in a YouTube video in April.

After nearly 60 years of bombastic rock, Nugent has decided to retire from touring, though he promises that more new music will be coming. The decision was based on his waning patience with the touring lifestyle, he said in the YouTube video:

“A hotel room is jail for me,” he said. “My dogs won’t allow me to not spend the day with them, so Happy, Sadie and Coco will go on the road with me this year. But the logistics are just too complicated when you have dogs and grandkids and kids and so many other things.”

Ted Nugent's farewell tour will stop on Saturday at Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach.

In recent years, Nugent’s penchant for provocative, often offensive takes on current events has overshadowed the music. On the current tour, a scheduled stop in Birmingham, Alabama, was canceled because of social media backlash against his appearance in town.

No such issues in Daytona Beach, apparently.

Tickets for Saturday’s show — from $29.50-$49.50 — are available at Ticketmaster.com or by calling the Peabody box office at 386-671-3462.
