Muralist's latest rainbow-colored work now up at Pier Park in South Bend

SOUTH BEND — Local muralist Alex Ann Allen recently completed yet another mural in downtown, this time along the concrete wall at Pier Park at the southeast corner of Colfax Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Visitors pass the park as they’re walking toward the Century Center island.

Allen painted the mural with her trademark geometric shapes in a rainbow of colors, though they seem to ride over blue waters. The mural surrounds the previously installed “Aether’s Requiem” by local artist Cara Givens, aka GIIIVENS, where, as you look through glass, mirrors and lights make it feel as if you’re peering into an infinite tunnel.

The city’s Venues Parks & Arts held a dedication ceremony for Allen’s mural on Tuesday.

Allen is also known for organizing Mural Mania in 2022 and 2023 that brought outside artists to add murals in downtown.
