At Least 3 Victims After Active Shooter Incident on UNLV Campus, Suspect Dead: Police

Las Vegas police responded to an active shooting incident on the campus of UNLV Wednesday morning and the suspect is now dead, authorities say. Sheriff Kevin McMahill said
In a post on the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's X account, Sheriff Kevin McMahill said, "Right now, we know there are 3 victims, but unknown extent of the injuries. That number could change. We will update you when we know more."
Authorities have not specified if there were any fatalities.
At 11:45 a.m., campus police received a call about an active shooter, Adam Garcia, Vice President of Public Safety Services and Director of University Police Services Southern Command at UNLV said at a Wednesday press conference. Subsequently, police "engaged the suspect," who is now dead, Garcia said.
Authorities said at the press conference that there is currently no threat to the campus. McMahill said police had "no idea" what the shooter's motive may have been.

Shortly before noon on Tuesday, the school's official account on X also posted an alert, urging anyone on campus to evacuate to a safe area, saying there was a report of a shooting at Beam Hall. The school followed that post up with another post saying there were reports of additional shots fired in the Student Union.
A post by the school later said police were responding to a "confirmed active shooter."
