Mugshots Grill & Bar is coming to Tennessee: What we know about new Collierville spot

Hattiesburg, Mississippi-based restaurant chain Mugshots Grill & Bar is planning to open a new Collierville location in the first quarter of 2024.

Tray Gamble and Jim Hicks are the franchisee owners of the Collierville location at 656 W. Poplar Ave. It will be housed in the former O’Charley’s Restaurant and Bar and will occupy 7,300 square feet.

Mugshots Grill & Bar signed a 10-year lease on Nov. 15 with The Shopping Center Group, according to Gamble. This will be the franchisees' sixth location. They also have Mississippi restaurant locations in Olive Branch, Starkville, Meridian, Tupelo and Columbus.

The Collierville restaurant is set to be the first Mugshots Grill & Bar in Tennessee. The dining room area can hold and seat about 180 people. The plan is to initially hire 60-80 employees, Gamble said.

He noted the people who owned the building Mugshots Grill & Bar is going into are big fans of Mississippi State. When the space became available, they reached out to him and Hicks with the belief that the location would be an ideal fit for a Mugshots.

“We love the building and love the location,” Gamble said. “We are right down the road in Olive Branch. We are Mississippi guys, but part of our plan was to grow into the Memphis area. Hopefully, if things go well, we will continue to grow in that area.”

Once the Collierville location opens, the Mugshots Grill & Bar franchise will have 22 locations, primarily in Mississippi and Alabama.

“Opening Mugshots in Collierville isn’t just about expanding our brand,” said Lauren McBride, marketing director of CHERS Restaurant Group, which owns the Mugshots Grill & Bar franchise. “It’s our commitment to crafting a dining experience that celebrates both exceptional burgers and the spirit of community all while having a good time.”

The family-friendly restaurant chain is known for its 25 different burger selections, including its signature “The Mugshot” burger. Mugshots Grill & Bar also features other choices such as sandwiches, salads and pastas. The sports bar locations also include more than 50 TVs around their restaurants for patrons.
