Mubi Takes Radu Jude’s ‘Do Not Expect Too Much From the End of the World’ for North America, Multiple Territories

Arthouse streaming platform Mubi has pounced on Do Not Expect Too Much From The End Of The World, the new satire from Romanian director Radu Jude (Bad Luck Banging or Looney Porn), picking up the film for multiple territories, including North America.

The film, a feminist satire that looks at two women fighting the patriarchy in Romania, in the past and present, Do Not Expect Too Much premiered in Locarno and is screening at the Toronto International Film Festival this week. Romania has picked it to be its official entry for the 2024 Oscars in the best international feature category.

Mubi has scored rights for the film in the U.S., Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, India, Turkey and Latin America in a deal with sales company Heretic. Heretic has also secured sales across Europe with multiple indie buyers, including with Filmin in Spain, I Wonder Pictures in Italy, Njutafilms for the Nordic territories, Films4U in Portugal, Aurora in Poland, Filmgarten in Austria, Cinobo in Greece, the European Film Forum Scanorama in Lithuania and with HBO Europe for the territories of Eastern and Central Europe.

Do Not Expect Too Much From The End Of The World is produced by Adrian Sitaru of 4 Proof Film and Ada Solomon of microFilm in Romania and co-produced by Paul Thiltges Distributions in Luxembourg, France’s Les Films D’ici and Kinorama in the Czech Republic. It was produced in association with Swiss group Bord Cadre and Britain’s Sovereign Films, the latter of which will release the film in the U.K..

Do Not Expect Too Much From The End Of The World is Jude’s follow-up to Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn, which won the Golden Bear for best film at the Berlin Film Festival in 2021.
