MTV VMAs 2023: The Complete Winners List

Heading into the 2023 Video Music Awards, all eyes were on Taylor Swift, and she delivered. Swift swept the live awards show, winning all four of her categories that were announced during the live MTV broadcast.

Out of the 11 nominations Swift received, she won in all categories but two. Song of the Summer went to Jung Kook ft. Latto for “Seven,” and Olivia Rodrigo won Best Editing for “vampire.” Neither of these categories were presented during the live broadcast of the awards show.

But the rest — which included best pop, song of the year, best direction, artist of the year, show of the summer, album of the year, best visual effects, best cinematography and the highly coveted video of the year — all went to Swift. In fact, Swift’s Video of the Year award marks the fourth time the singer and songwriter has received this award, the most of any artist in VMAs history. It’s also a record Swift herself broke just last year with “All Too Well: The Short Film.”

The first award the singer and songwriter received was for Best Pop, which was presented to her by NSYNC. The win prompted Swift to gush, “I had your dolls.” “You guys — you’re pop personified so to receive this from your golden pop hands really it’s too much,” Swift continued.

Weeks ahead of the awards show, two of the biggest honors were already announced. Shakira won the coveted Vanguard Video Award, which she was presented with Tuesday night. As for the Global Icon Award, that distinction went to Sean “Diddy” Combs.

But they are far from the only winners during one of the music industry’s biggest nights.
