MTV Video Music Awards: Kendrick Lamar, Jack Harlow and Lil Nas X Top Nominations

The nominations for the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards have been unveiled with Kendrick Lamar, Jack Harlow and Lil Nas X leading the nominations with seven each.
Harlow and Lil Nas X earned multiple nominations for their collaboration “INDUSTRY BABY,” including nods for video of the year, best collaboration, best direction, best art direction, best visual effects and best choreography. Harlow and Lil Nas X are also among the artist of the year nominees. Lamar, who is nominated for the first time since 2018, is up for best hip-hop for “N95”, video for good and best visual effects for “The Heart Part 5” and best cinematography for “family ties” (also nominated for best editing) and “N95.”

Doja Cat and Harry Styles closely follow with 6 nods each, and Billie Eilish, Drake, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd with 5 each.
Swift’s short film and directorial debut, “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version),” is up for video of the year, as well as best longform video, cinematography, direction and editing.
Madonna, who holds the title for the most awarded artists in MTV history with 20 wins, is now the only artist to be nominated in each of the VMAs five decades after earning her 69th nomination for “MADAME X.”
The 2022 ceremony will take place on Sunday, August 28th at 8 p.m. ET/PT live from the Prudential Center in New Jersey. For the third consecutive year, the VMAs will simulcast on The CW Network, in addition to BET, BET Her, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TVLand and VH1.
Fans are able to vote across the 22 gender-neutral categories, including the new categories best longform video and best metaverse performance, now through Friday, Aug. 19. Nominations for social categories including group of the year and song of summer will be announced at a later date.
Bruce Gillmer and Den of Thieves co-founder Jesse Ignjatovic are executive producers for the show with Barb Bialkowski co-executive producing. Alicia Portugal and Jackie Barba serve as executives in charge of production. Wendy Plaut is the executive in charge of celebrity talent while Lisa Lauricella is the music talent executive.
