MTV News Names Village Voice’s Inkoo Kang As Lead TV Critic

EXCLUSIVE: As part of Dan Fierman’s ongoing revamp of MTV News, MTV has tapped Village Voice TV critic Inkoo Kang as Lead Television Critic for MTV News. Kang will assume her new role beginning March 7, and will contribute film reviews, profiles, thinkpieces and podcasts.

Along with The Village Voice, Kang was a film critic for TheWrap and since 2013 has served as Managing Editor of Indiewire’s Women and Hollywood blog. She has also written about television and film for Vanity Fair, The Los Angeles Times, The Atlantic, and numerous other publications.

“I’m delighted to be joining the bright minds at MTV News, many of whom I’ve read and admired for years,” Kang said in a statement to Deadline. “Television is currently an incredibly exciting medium: evolving, experimenting, and exceeding itself every day. I look forward to exploring this frontier with a new generation of viewers.”

Kang joins an expanding roster of talent at MTV News that includes Wonkette founder Ana Marie Cox, LA Weekly film critic Amy Nicholson, former New York Magazine Daily Intelligencer reporter Jaime Fuller, and former Grantland contributors Holly Anderson and Molly Lambert.
