MTG Studios, Red Arrow Intl. Partner on Political Drama Series ‘Embassy Down’

MTG Studios is joining forces with Red Arrow International to co-finance and produce “Embassy Down,” an eight-part timely political thriller drama written by Anders Frithiof August (“The Model”).

The series is being produced by René Ezra and Tomas Radoor at Nordisk Film, the company behind “A War,””A Hijacking” and “Key House Mirror.” It will premiere on MTG’s streaming service Viaplay across the Nordics in 2018.

Set in current-day Copenhagen, “Embassy Down” follows terrorists who storm the opening party of the new U.S. embassy and take the guests hostage, causing turmoil across the Danish capital with repercussions around the world.

The series will explore the psychological dynamic between the terrorists and hostages inside the besieged embassy, as well as the political manoeuvrings outside the embassy.

“This major new series deals unflinchingly with some of the most sensitive issues of our time. It offers non-stop action and drama, with each episode raising big questions about human relationships and conflicting agendas,” said Jakob Mejlhede, EVP and head of programming and content development at MTG.

Frithiof August’s credits include “The Legacy,””Follow the Money” and the recent feature “The Model.”

Henrik Bastin (‘Bosch’, ‘American Odyssey’), Mikkel Bondesen (‘Truth’, ‘The Killing’, ‘Burn Notice’) at Red Arrow’s Fabrik Entertainment are exec producing.

“Embassy Down” is the latest in a string of original drama series commissioned by MTG Studios. Recent Nordic shows on Viaplay’s slate include “Veni Vidi Vici,” the L.A.-based comedy drama “Swedish Dicks” (pictured above), the Nordic noir series “Hassel,” the biopic ‘SuperSwede’ about the life of Swedish Formula 1 driver Ronnie Peterson; and new kids’ series ‘The Great Escape’.
