Michigan State is one of three blue bloods that have reportedly shown interest in 2023 three-star combo guard Maki Johnson of Scott Depot, W.V.

College basketball recruiting analyst Jacob Polacheck reported on Tuesday that Michigan State, Kentucky and Kansas all reached out to Johnson on the first day of the contact period opening up. Johnson is a three-star combo guard who plays for Teays Valley Christian School in West Virginia.

Johnson is ranked as the No. 72 prospect and No. 14 combo guard by 247Sports. The recruiting service also lists Johnson as the top player from the state of West Virginia for the 2023 class.

Michigan State has yet to extend a scholarship offer to Johnson, but he does hold scholarships from numerous other big-time programs. Kansas, Auburn, Louisville, Maryland, Nebraska, Penn State, Virginia Tech and Xavier have all previously offered Johnson.
