BET has renewed its hit courtroom series Ms. Pat Settles It for a second season.

The series is the result of Patricia Williams’ multi-year overall deal with BET Media Group. Williams is also the mastermind behind The Ms. Pat Show, which returns for a fourth season May 23 on BET+.

More from Deadline

In Season 1 of Ms. Pat Settles It, Ms. Pat assembled a jury comprised of her closest friends, family members, celebrity guest stars, and comedians where they tackled real cases where genuine relationships hung in the balance.

In the second season of Ms. Pat Settles It, each case will continue to revolve around family and relationship dynamics. Viewers will witness everyday people grappling with real-life problems who willingly accept Ms. Pat’s verdict as binding. Each case traverses the fine line between intense drama and uproarious comedy, mirroring Ms. Pat’s own life experiences. The “jury of her peers” will preside over a wide array of cases, encompassing financial disputes, romantic entanglements, roommate quarrels, neighborly conflicts, and a myriad of other issues. Ms. Pat and her jury continue their mission to set things right. Although real cash settlements are at stake, the core of every case is an underlying issue that has driven the litigants to their breaking points.

The Ms. Pat Show lifts from Williams’ life experiences covered in her memoir “Rabbit: The Autobiography of Ms. Pat.” The series portrays a modern, multi-generational African American family navigating life’s twists and turns against the backdrop of current cultural chaos with an unfiltered realness. Complete with R-rated language and controversial episode topics including non-binary pronouns, abortion, black hair, school shootings, drug addiction, racism, and child abuse, The Ms. Pat Show is a rethinking of the American sitcom.

Williams serves as executive producer on both of her series with Jordan E. Cooper, Natalie Berkus, Brain Grazer, Lee Daniels, Deborah Evans, Jon Radler, and Patrick Walsh. Ms. Pat Settles It is executive produced by Sallyann Salsano, Dave Hamilton, Ebony McClain, and Frank Miccolis for 495 Productions.

Williams is represented by IAG, Tigerman Management, and Garrett Legal.
