‘Ms. Marvel’ Actress Laurel Marsden Joins Emma Thompson & Judy Greer In Action-Thriller ‘The Fisherwoman’

EXCLUSIVE: Laurel Marsden (Ms. Marvel) is joining Emma Thompson and Judy Greer in action-thriller The Fisherwoman, which gets underway this week.

Brian Kirk is directing the Stampede and Augenschein production from a screenplay by writing duo Nicholas Jacobson-Larson and Dalton Leeb. Thompson’s daughter Gaia Wise also stars with Marc Menchaca.

The movie charts how a widowed fisherwoman (Thompson), while trapped in a Minnesotan blizzard, interrupts the kidnapping of a teenager (Marsden) orchestrated by a waif (Greer) and her congenial husband (Menchaca), and soon realizes that she is the young victim’s only hope.

North.five.six. (formerly Mossbank) and Augenschein are handling international sales, with CAA Media Finance representing domestic rights. Leonine will be co-producing and distributing for German-speaking Europe.

Production starts today [Feb 26] in Koli, Finland, and North-Rhine Westfalia Germany. Backing also comes from Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, the DFFF, and German broadcaster ZDF.

Marsden is best known for playing Zoe Zimmer in Disney+’s Marvel series Ms. Marvel and for starring with Russell Crowe in Screen Gems horror The Pope’s Exorcist. Other credits include horror All Fun and Games opposite Asa Butterfield and Natalia Dyer and Quibi’s Survive with Sophie Turner and Corey Hawkins.

Marsden is repped by Encompass and Zero Gravity Management.
