Ms. Lauryn Hill Postpones Remaining 'Miseducation' U.S. Dates to 2024 over Vocal Issues: 'I Need to Take Time Off'

The singer said she needs a break for "real vocal recovery"

Fans will have to wait once again to see Ms. Lauryn Hill take the stage.

On Tuesday night, the "Doo Wop" singer, 48, shared an Instagram Reel announcing that the 25th anniversary tour celebrating her Grammy-winning album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill — which her band — The Fugees with Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel has been co-headlining — is being postponed.

She revealed the news alongside a video of her singing on stage in an oversized black feather hat with a black blazer and matching black floor-length skirt.

"I’d like to start this off by saying how much I’ve enjoyed being on the road, and how much I appreciate all of the fans who have come out to celebrate this incredible milestone anniversary and history making reunion with us. Being able to tour this album to sold out crowds after 25 years has been an emotional experience! I’ve loved sharing the stage again with Wyclef and Pras. The Return of the Fugees has been powerful and amazing—those who’ve witnessed it can testify," she wrote on Instagram.

Hill added that the tour has been a reminder of "less complicated times," before touching on her recent vocal issues.

"As many of you may know, I’ve been battling serious vocal strain for the past month. I made it through each show by taking prescribed prednisone, but this can be detrimental to the body when taken in large amounts over long periods of time. In order to prevent any long term negative affect on my voice and my body, I need to take time off to allow for real vocal recovery so that I can discontinue the medication completely," she continued.

The "Ready or Not" performer then revealed that she's made the decision "to reschedule most of the remaining shows this year."

"The shows that were canceled this year will be rescheduled for early 2024 AND because of the overwhelming response, we’ll be adding new cities to the tour, including overseas. We’re working on the new calendar now, and announcing soon," Hill wrote.

She then revealed that the concert in Philadelphia on Nov. 25 will "still be happening."

"We already had to move this show once and being so close to New Jersey, it’s basically hometown for us—so we’ll close out the year with one final show amongst friends and family!" she wrote.

Hill ended the post on a hopeful note and thanked the tour's crew, as well as family and friends.

"We’re ALL looking forward to getting back out again next year to finish this EPIC (now extended anniversary) celebration of these CLASSICS. 🙀❤️‍🔥 ♥️MLH," she wrote.

Last month, the Grammy winner postponed shows in Philadelphia and Forth Worth due to ongoing vocal issues.

“As you may know, I’ve been doing my best to overcome a serious case of vocal strain/injury over the past week or so,” Hill wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) hours before the Fort Worth show.

“I fought through the last couple shows, pushing my voice, and masking the injury with medication. This isn’t safe or sustainable. I woke up this morning hoping to have enough voice to get through tonight, but I can barely talk let alone sing or rap," she continued.

“I need to heal and rest the voice in order to continue the tour. For these reasons, sadly, my doctors have advised me to postpone tonight’s show. Much love to all of you for your support, and I look forward to coming back to Texas soon.”
