Mr. T Gave the US Men’s Curling Team a Pep Talk
On Saturday, the American men’s curling team made history by winning its first-ever Winter Olympics gold medal. And while their skill and hard work definitely deserves most of the credit, we should probably chock up some small part of their win to the pump-up speech they got from curling super-fan Mr. T.
Guess who just phoned our guys to say good luck tonight?? The one and only @MrT himself. Can’t thank T enough for calling and hopping on board the #TeamShuster and @usacurl train!! #TeamUSA #curlingiscoolfool #TeamT pic.twitter.com/qN3MNMsybN

Though we don't know the rest of the A-Team star's message, it must have been stirring: The US men's team went on to beat Sweden, the top-ranked curling team in the world. Mr. T has been cheering on US Curling throughout the olympics, using the incredible hashtag #curlingiscoolfool.
I predict PAIN for Sweden and victory for the USA! Yeah that’s what i’m talking about. We’re in it to win it fool! #curlingiscoolfool #TeamUSA

In an interview with Time, Mr. T swore he wasn't a paid shill for Big Curling, but an honest-to-God fan, showing his love for the sport on social media.
I like curling, it’s less wear and tear on the body. I wrestled, boxed, and studied martial arts. I have nothing else to prove. Therefore I choose curling. #curlingiscoolfool

The team’s win was the culmination of five successive victories, after an early loss to Norway found them near elimination. For team leader John Shuster, the win broke a medal-less dry spell three Winter Olympics long.
Perhaps at Beijing's 2022 winter games, he'll be joined by his biggest fan:
“Do they have a senior citizen’s circuit? For curling?” Mr. T asks. “I said to myself, ‘T, you’ve got to remember, you are 65, man.'” He’s afraid of slipping on the curling ice - or “sheet.” “Man, wow, I’m not wimping out, but you don’t want to get out there and hurt yourself,” he says. “I have to make sure I’m all padded up. I’ll have my wrist guards, my knee stuff, my ankle stuff. It might look like I’m coming to play football. But I’ll just be ready to curl.”
