First up is the west Texas band Flatland Cavalry, which is on a North American tour that’s been selling out venues. The Montgomery show is part of a three-day weekend run that includes Huntsville on Friday and Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday.

On the recording side, they’ve been keeping busy with a 2021 album Welcome to Countryland and 2022’s Songs To Keep You Warm. Their brand new single “Last American Summer” has been getting a lot of love, especially over the Fourth of July.

Things are truly Golden when this family comes to play. That’s right, William Lee Golden of Oak Ridge Boys fame and his award-winning sons Chris and Rusty Golden are coming to the MPAC on Sunday with their “all-star” band from Nashville.

William Lee Golden, the man behind the massive flowing white beard, joined the Oak Ridge Boys in 1965. He’s won 5 Grammy Awards, plus had 25 nominations. He’s also won an American Music Award, 4 CMA Awards, 4 ACM Awards, 2008 Pioneer Award, 10 Dove Awards and the 2010 Presidents Honor. He’s a member of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry. In fact, the Opry is where three generations of Goldens just appeared together on July 9“I've played on this stage many times with different groups, and I have sang on this stage for different events other than The Opry, but last night was the first time I sang a lead on THE Opry,” wrote Chris Golden. “I’ve always heard it ain't good to peak too early. Lol..What a treat to get to sing the first song I ever learned with my family (‘You Are My Sunshine’). I think I could get used to this!”

William Lee Golden recorded 3 albums with his sons and grandchildren during the pandemic: “Country Roads”, vintage Country Classics, “Southern Accents”, Pop, Country and Rock hits, and “Old Country Church Gospel.”

Some lucky fan is getting two free tickets to see William Lee Golden & The Goldens on Sunday, according to the group’s official social media. All they have to do is share the Facebook post about it, and tag a friend you’d like to attend the show with. The tickets are coming from an anonymous fan, and the winner will be announced on Friday, July 14.

Just ahead of a show in Mobile and two in Texas, Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band’s tour is making its way to Montgomery.

"None of this is possible without you guys. If the people don't want to hear it, then it's not going to be heard," Shepherd said in the video for the 25th anniversary of his hit "Blue On Black."

At 46, the Shreveport, Louisiana native blues rock guitar artist has already been in the music business 20 years. He signed his first record deal at 16, and released his debut album Ledbetter Heights in 1995. His 10th album, The Traveler, was released in 2019.

Last year, he released Trouble Is… 25, a reinterpretation of his Trouble Is… album from 25 years ago. The 25th anniversary performance is also available as a film, performed in his hometown at the Strand Theatre.
