John Cusack steps into some very big shoes to play literary giant Edgar Allan Poe in “The Raven,” opening this weekend. Instead of being a straight biopic, the film is a revisionist historical take on the crime thriller genre, where Poe helps the police find a serial copycat killer who is using Poe’s stories for lethal inspiration. Director James McTeigue (“V for Vendetta” 2004) weaves together many of Poe’s most famous works, including “The Raven” and ”The Tell-Tale Heart,” to create a world where Poe ostensibly becomes a character in his own stories. We all know Edgar Allan Poe will make a thoroughly compelling character, but here are five facts about the film you might not know, but definitely should.
