Movie starring Michael B. Jordan set to film in Ascension Parish, extras needed

DONALDSONVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – If you have ever wanted to be in a movie, now is your chance. A movie starring Michael B. Jordan is set to be filmed in Ascension Parish and other parts of Louisiana, according to Brent Caballero, owner of Caballero Casting.

Ryan Coogler is directing the movie which has a working title of, “GRILLED CHEESE,” according to Caballero. He said the Warner Bros. movie is set in the 1930’s.

Filming, Caballero said, will take place in Donaldsonville, New Orleans, Belle Chasse, St. Bernard, Braithwaite, Tickfaw, Hammond, Napoleonville and Thibodaux.

He said they are looking for extras for the film including “background actors, specific dancers and specific musicians.”

The casting company has put out the call for specific extras on its Facebook page including “African American male twins between the ages of 18-45,” kids and teens between the ages of 4 and 17, African American females between the ages of 10 and 16 to portray Sammie’s sisters, Asian males, Asian lady, members of the Choctaw Indian Tribe and a youth choir.

Caballero said, “filming is expected to begin at the end of April.”

Caballero said if you are chosen as an extra, your commitment would involve, at minimum, a fitting and a shoot day. He also said that there are “roles that will play for weeks at a time.”
