NEW BEDFORD — "The Holdovers," filmed at the New Bedford Wamsutta Club and Fairhaven High School, won two Golden Globes for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture on Sunday.

"Surely this is the first time this award has been given to an actor who has played a man who smells like fish," Giamatti joked in his speech, while also giving a shout out to "Beantown" as the backdrop for the film.

The film takes place in 1970, and tells the story of Paul Hunham (Giamatti), an unpopular teacher with no family to go to and nowhere else to spend the Christmas holiday. Thus, he stays at the school to supervise the students who are unable to go home.
