A shiny new flat-top griddle and fryer are ready for burgers and french fries.  Chrome deco-style stools are lined up along a street-facing window. The milkshake station is in position, too.

Get ready for a second location of Motz's Burgers, famous for its all-beef burgers, milkshakes and fries. The burger joint, operated by the Milosavljevski family, is adding a Redford location on Plymouth Road, east of Inkster Road. It'll open Tuesday.

Motz's Burgers' original location is on Fort Street, at the corner of Green in southwest Detroit, housed in a bright, white, small building across from the Detroit Produce Terminal. The southwest Detroit location goes back many decades to the original Mott's Hamburgers, started by the Mott family, according to Mike Milosavljevski.

In 1996, Milosavljevski's parents, Bob and Mary, purchased the restaurant and changed the name to Motz's Burgers to reflect ownership outside the Mott family.

Now as the Milosavljevkis look toward retirement, their sons, Mike and Tony, are running the operation and want to expand the brand, adding more locations starting with the new Redford location.

Motz's new Redford location will have the same single and double beef sliders made from fresh ground beef plus fries and onion rings.

The burgers are mostly made to order. Motz's milkshakes — chocolate, strawberry and vanilla — are made using Calder Dairy and Farm products and Guernsey Dairy products, Mike Milosavljevki said. The crispy chicken and fish sandwiches will not be on the Redford menu yet.
