Motown Museum to welcome community for free Founder's Day festivities and discounted tours

The Motown Museum's annual community celebration will take over the West Grand Boulevard campus Sunday with the return of Founder's Day.

The festivities will run from noon to 5 p.m. at the Motown Museum, including outdoor entertainment, special guests and discounted tour tickets sold at two for the price of one.

Founder's Day, which traditionally has packed the museum premises with families and other local visitors, was launched in honor of Esther Gordy Edwards, who founded the Motown Museum in the 1980s, transforming the original Hitsville, U.S.A. into one of Detroit's best-known tourist destinations.

The Motown Museum is at 2648 W. Grand Boulevard in Detroit. More info: motownmuseum.org
