Motown legend to perform for American Legion 'White Christmas' show

A “White Christmas” show is set for 5-8 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Ashland American Legion, 1338 Claremont Ave. Doors open at 4 p.m.

This event is open to the public. Donations will be accepted at the door. There will be gift baskets to support the American Legion Auxiliary programs for veterans, Ashland Pregnancy Center and Homeward Bound Dog Shelter. Food will be available for purchase.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Motown Recording artist Annette Helton will perform. Helton is known for her work with Motown and is an original member of the singing group Martha and the Vandellas.

Helton, formerly known as Annette Beard, was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1995, along with other members of Martha and the Vandellas.

Also performing will be Grover-Simmons Connection, Dann Simmons and Josh Grover.

“We are very fortunate Annette, Josh and Dann were able to help us celebrate the Christmas holiday. It’s going to be a fun-filled evening,” said Mary Ann Dull, president of Harry Higgins Unit 88 of the American Legion Auxiliary.

A meet and greet with photos and autographs with the entertainers will follow the program.
